Read This First
Rules For Throwers
Axe throwing is safe when everyone follows the same rules. Your coach will walk you through all of this before your first throw.
Shoes
Closed toe shoes are required. If you are not wearing them you will not be throwing, and we are not flexible on this one.
Axes
No outside axes or weapons, with the exception of league members. You use what we provide. If you have questions about this, call and ask to speak to the owners.
Black Throw Line
Your back foot stays behind the black throw line for the throw to count. Your other foot can step forward past it.
Red Safety Line
Nobody crosses the red safety line while axes are in play. Not to grab a drink, not to take a photo.
Throwing
Two people may throw at the same time since barriers divide the lanes, and we put four people per lane. Do not throw aggressively hard at the target. It is bad form, it is dangerous, and it breaks axes.
Retrieving Axes
Once the axe is thrown you may cross the throwing and safety lines to retrieve it. If your axe sticks, pull it up first, then out. Never stand directly in front of an axe while removing it.
Waiver Forms
Every participant signs a waiver, and so does every spectator. Under 18s need a parent or guardian to sign for them. Waivers expire after one year.

How We Keep The Range Safe
Our Axes
Every axe is inspected before each event. Blades are maintained and sharpened enough to stick in the target reliably.
Our Targets
Wood targets are sprayed with water so axes stick and so the boards split and chip less. They are quality American pine and get replaced as they wear out.
Our Lanes
Fencing divides every lane so throwers and axes stay contained. Only the two throwers and the coach are inside a lane at any one time.
Our Coaches
Every event gets a trained axe throwing coach who covers safety, demonstrates the throw and stays with your group throughout.
